At Ruff Stuff Dog Services, we understand that leaving your dog can be stressful for both you and your dog. That’s why we created the Ruff Stuff Retreat! Where Good Dogs Come To Stay and Play, While You’re Away! 

Whether you live in Metro Vancouver, The North Shore, Squamish or Whistler, Ruff Stuff offers the Ruff Stuff Retreat, a wonderful free-range boarding setting your friendly, social dog will absolutely LOVE.

The Ruff Stuff Retreat is located in Squamish at the home of Ruff Stuff's owners Tracy and Erik. At the Ruff Stuff Retreat, the dogs get to enjoy our fully fenced 1-acre property where they have plenty of space to run, play, wrestle, chase balls, play tug, dig in the sandpits, play on our agility equipment and more! When the dogs aren’t playing with their new friends, we have leather couches and comfy dog beds for them to snuggle up on for naps and at night.

The Ruff Stuff facility is heated in the winter and cooled with AC in the summer. The downstairs of the house has been converted for the dogs. We have plenty of leather couches, comfy dog beds and some extra large crates and kennels for those dogs that prefer their own space at night. Fresh clean Squamish water is provided all day and all night, indoors and outdoors. Dogs are all fed separately to ensure everyone's safety and medications and/or supplements are administered as per your instructions.

Shuttle Service Between Vancouver to Squamish

Lower your stress level, knowing that we'll pick up and drop off your dog for you!

For the convenience of our Metro Vancouver clients, we offer a shuttle service to/from Vancouver/Squamish.
  • The shuttle runs on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday basis. Please note – It does not run on weekends or stat holidays. Applicable charges apply.
  • Pick up times are between 10:15 & 10:30 am, Monday/Wednesday/Friday (excluding statutory holidays). 
  • The shuttle service is free for guests staying with us for 15+ nights.
  • Our shuttle vans are fully ventilated and equipped with AC and heat to safely and comfortably transport your dog.
  • For dogs heading up to Squamish, please have them dropped off at our meeting location in Vancouver at 10 am.
  • We’ll return them there at 10:15 am on the day they’ll be heading home. 
  • You are more than welcome to drop off or pick up your dog directly in Squamish if you prefer, or on days the shuttle isn’t running.  Please note, dogs must be dropped off by no later than 3 pm so we have enough time to help them get settled in.

  • Drop-off times are between 10 & 10:15 am, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and we’ll transport your dog directly to our Retreat in Squamish.

  • Drop off times are between 7:30 - 11am and 2 - 3 pm Monday – Friday or 8-11am and 2 - 3 pm on Weekends and Statutory Holidays.  

  • Pick up times are between 7:30 am - 12:30 pm or 2 - 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday and between 8 am & 12:30 pm or 2 - 5:30pm on Weekends and Statutory Holidays

Drop Off or Pick Up Directly Via Our Squamish Location

  • Drop off times are between 7:30 - 11am and 2 - 3pm Monday – Friday or 8-11am and 2 - 3pm on Weekends and Statutory Holidays. 

  •  Pick up times are between 7:30am - 12:30pm or 2 - 5:30pm, Monday – Friday and between 8am & 12:30pm or 2 - 5:30pm on Weekends and Statutory Holidays

What Happens At The Ruff Stuff Squamish Retreat?

Activities

We’re all about fun at the Ruff Stuff Retreat! 
  • We have equipment to play on and run through, 2 sand pits, agility equipment, puzzle games, scent-work games, balls and ropes to play with and plenty of space for the dogs to run around and play with their doggie friends.
  • Paddling pools are set-up in all the play yards for dogs that want to take a dip or splash around during the warmer months.
  • Cuddles, cuddles and more cuddles!!

Our Handlers

Tracy and Erik, the owners, have been operating Ruff Stuff since 2003.
  • We have well trained, fully qualified, dog loving handlers to help us care for the dogs on a daily basis who know how to read K-9 body language and are K-9 first aid trained.
    • We currently have 2 former vet tech's on staff and we have great relationships with some of the local veterinarian clinics, in case of any emergencies or health issues.
  • We are all absolutely nuts about dogs!!

Love & Attention

  • All the dogs are given plenty of one on one attention, cuddles, ear scratches, belly rubs, butt rubs, and more!
  • If we notice any new lumps, bumps, wounds or that your dogs nails are looking a bit too long, we'll let you know.
  • Every night Tracy puts all the dogs to bed and everyone gets tucked in and receives a cookie, a little cuddle and a kiss on the top of their head ♥.

Cleanliness

  • Every day the entire facility is cleaned and sanitized including all water bowls.
  • Feeding bowls are washed and sanitized after each use to help prevent any cross-contamination.
  • Bedding is washed regularly.
  • All dog waste is picked up regularly throughout the day and properly disposed of.

Safety

  • Our 1-acre property is fully fenced and very secure.
  • When dogs arrive at the facility via our shuttle, the property is fully secured before they are brought out of the van.
  • All doors and gates are kept locked at all times.
  • We have large crates, separate rooms and extra large kennels for dogs that prefer and/or require their own space at night.
  • Cameras, smoke & CO2 sensors and fire extinguishers are installed in every indoor area of the facility.
  • New dogs are introduced slowly to the rest of the guests.  We go at your dog's pace.
  • Dogs are housed alone or with dogs they get along well with if in our Zen Den
  • Dogs from the same family are always housed together unless you request them to be separated
  • We only accept friendly dogs to help reduce the possibility of altercations.
  • Dogs are always closely monitored 24 hours per day
  • We don't accept highly anxious dogs because of the stress they cause the other guests and our team. It's very important that all the dogs are able to enjoy a good night's sleep while in our care.

Bathing Services

Upon request, we can give your dog a nice bubble bath before sending them home at the end of their stay. See Rates Page for prices.
